Parents have the greatest effect on the person their child grows up to be. It can be the morals they teach, the sports they start at a young age, the education they provide, the stress they place, or the career paths they push. Parents condition their children to agree with what they believe as they grow up. This can be religion or politics or simpler things such as morality and discipline. Whatever it is, a person’s childhood environment fosters their growth, and the lessons they learn are long lasting.
For my photo I focused on the idea that parents “shape” their children into the people they want them to be. I exaggerated this idea by having parents literally molding and shaping their ideal child with play-doh. On the table there are bins with certain areas parents generally shape their children along with a few examples for each, The mother and father are holding hands to show they are married and one hand is literally shaping the shape of a body to better exaggerate the idea.
